microdol,
Do you work for Evian??? This is like the twentieth post I've seen you tell people to pack water.
"Nobody drinks tap water in California"...what do you think they are serving you at most restaurants? Do you think they are opening bottled water and pouring into pitchers to bring out to your table? It is tap water.
Millions of Californians drink tap water.
I agree that buying water in bulk is cheaper than 1 or 2 at time at the 7-11 but I just find it funny that you have made this your crusade.

SAB - glad to read that we're of like minds on Casanova. I've been shaking my head at the other posts...they just don't know good food.
By the way, I just got back from four days in Chicago. Dined at Trotters and Alinea - amazing, amazing food and I didn't gain a pound. Proud of me?

No, I don't, but EVERYONE I know says they wish they did that, and I will continue to tell people to do that. Now, if water was reasonable, it's not a problem, but when it's $3.25 a bottle for something that in reality should be .50 cents, I will help people SAVE MONEY any time I can. Family of 4 - 4x 3.25 is a lot of dough. $13 to be exact. For 4 bottles of water. WATER.
Now, if I worked for Evian, do you think I'd be tipping people off ?
I appreciate your concern.

Ok, most folks I know have water coolers in their homes, I did when I lived there, but not EVERYBODY does, I'll give you that one.
I mis-spoke when I said NOBODY drinks the water there, but if you are out in a car for any amount of time sight-seeing, well, you folks should know what I mean.
My only crusade is to help folks save money, that's all.
I'm done with this now, but you can hammer away at me if you so desire.

Microdol, your suggestion and intentions are good. However, I'd like to request that you change it a bit.
We, in California, are very environmentally conscience. The foam coolers are not recyclable and will just add to our already full landfills. Please purchase a small collapsible cooler that you can reuse. They insulate much better than the foam coolers, too. You can take it back home with you by folding it up and storing it in your suitcase. As for the water, most of the cities in CA have wonderful tasting water. Purchase a couple of water bottles and reuse them.

Dear Shelja,
Your trip sounds like so much fun!!!
Have you considered 17 mile drive while your around the Carmel area? If you have the time, I found it to be beautiful and relaxing!
