Please Help With Maui Plans!

Hi everyone,
We will be on Maui Feb. 1-6th. Going to the BI Feb. 6-9th. Coming back to Maui Feb. 9-15th. This is our 10th anniversary and we will be bringing our kids, ages 6 and 7. We honeymooned on Maui and stayed at the Hyatt. I have reservations for both of our Maui stays at the Westin, but am now thinking that we may want to stay one of those segments at the Grand Wailea? I feel that we would want to experience both areas of Maui, but my husband needs convincing! I would love some input into this dilemma! Thank You!

Thanks Bill. I'll do that. I just wasn't sure if it is advisable to experience both parts of the island?

I would definitely stay in Wailea for the second part of the trip. It will be a different experience from staying up north!

Thanks for your quick reply! I guess I should follow my instincts and change part of the trip to Wailea. I've heard so many great things about that part of the island that I would hate to feel like we "cheated" ourselves out of that experience.
Thanks again,
Jill

Just don't tell too many people how great the Wailea area is, or Wailea will look like Kaanapali one day

Just kidding folks!

I always recommend staying at both sides. That way you can explore just that area and enjoy area restaurants without night driving. While at Westin, enjoy west coast, napali beach, kapalua, Lahaina. Then head to Wailea, and explore Makena, Paia, Upcountry. It's really the most logical choice!!!!! Have a blast!

Jilla,
I'm coordinating a management conference at the Fairmont Kea Lani located in Wailea during your second stay in Maui, and I have a few extra rooms in our block that I need to get "rid" of. I can give you all the details, if interested.

You and your family will LOVE The Grand Wailea. We were married on the beach there in Oct. 2003. Not only was it a great honeymoon spot, but a great place if you have kids too we noticed. Probably the best pools in Wailea, with waterslides, water elevator and rope swings. We had as much fun as the kids. For the adults, there is a swim up bar right in the middle of the pool area. They also have a Keiki club will all kinds of activities for kids.

Definitely too, take a snorkel trip to one of the islands, I would recommend Trilogy. That's a great sail and snorkel trip. You're also sure to see many whales as it's the season when you'll be there.

Also, I hear the Maui Ocean Center is awesome. We're off again to Maui Jan. 15-22 and that is on our list. Hubby is doing the shark dive.

Those would be my picks, and we can't wait to back again and again....

Thanks for the info MrsT. We've decided on the Grand Wailea for the second part of our trip--it sounds like you and your husband had a memorable time. Hope your January trip is just as great!

Word of warning opn the Grand Wailea! The north side of the hotel is next to a major construction site. Be sure to demand rooms on the south side to avoid the noise and dust.
