Thanks for the additional great advice. Are there other places to eat near the Natural History museum that are open later?

There's little in the immediate area aside from federal buildings. I would search the Washingtonian magazine's online "restaurant finder" under the DC neighborhood of "Penn Quarter/Chinatown" and you'll find lots of choices that are only one or two Metro stops away.
