Please help me decide between Westin Fairfax and Embassy Row Hilton

Does anyone have a recommendation on a nice hotel in Dupont Circle? I seem to be able to get a rate of $129 for the Westin Fairfax and Embassy Row Hilton. It's a little more $$ for the Radisson Barcelo, a little less for Jury's Doyle Hotel. Romantic getaway weekend for the two of us -- want to be someplace fun and lively (though not unbearably noisy). All hotel suggestions welcome!

Sue, the Westin Fairfax at $129 is a decent deal and I would jump on that. I take it the Radisson Barcelo is sold out on their $99 Super Saver rate at the time you are traveling? It's on their website: (www.radisson.com). Happy Trails!

The prices seem to change every day. Just found a $95 rate on the Hilton Embassy Row. The Radisson supersaver is not available right now, but should I keep trying?

Assuming you know the cancellation policy and you're not pre-paying through a booking service, my own approach would be to lock into the Hilton at $95. (This assumes you like the location, etc.) You have now taken all the risk out of shopping around and you're in the driver's seat. If you have something slightly different in mind for whatever reason, you can cancel out of your first reservation after you've locked in your replacement reservation. If you want to play hardball, you can even tell the place you're interested in "I've got a $95 rate at the Embassy Row Hilton. Can you match that?". The worst thing that can happen is they say "no" and you end up sticking with the Hilton -- not exactly an unattractive fate, as these things go.

Hi Jim,
Thanks for your advice.

Any opinions as to which is the nicest of the hotels: Westin Fairfax, Embassy Row Hilton, or Radisson Barcelo?

i like the Westin property but haven't stayed there since it changed from Ritz-Carlton. I was underwhelmed by the Hilton. I've stayed at the Radisson Barcelo several times. Huge rooms and a good location, but the befuddled staff makes me hesitate to recommend it. Overall, I still think the Westin is your best bet.

Thanks to all who replied. I was able
to get a rate of $109 at the Westin Fairfax, so on your advice, will probably stay there. I'm amazed to find such reasonable prices!
