please critique my itinerary San Jose Ca to Oregon

Planning to visit family in Medford but want to do a little road trip on way there via coast.
Rough Itinerary:
Day 1 - drive San Jose to Garberville - Overnight at Best Western
Day 2 - drive to ? Brooking/Gold Beach ? - Overnight where?
Day 3/4 - drive to Yachats - spend 2 nights where?
Day 5 - drive to Medford

Days 2/3/4 are where I need input...where to stay and which town to stay in.

Thanks in advance for your input!

Because I like driving southbound on US 101 in Oregon, I'd go to Medford first using I-5.
After Medford continue up I-5 to Rt. 34 into Corvallis and US 20 to Newport.
Just south of Newport visit the Oregon Coast Aquarium.
Yachats is about half an hour south of the Aquarium.
Take the time to head east from Reedsport to see the Deans Creek Elk viewing area.
I like Gold Beach a little better than Brookings.
Spend some time in Redwood National Park near Crescent City.

I have no recommendations for anywhere but Yachats- suggest the Adobe Motel- on the ocean, has a restaurant, some rooms have kitchens, or the Fireside- next to the Adobe or the Overleaf- the most expensive of the three but all are close to each other.
