NEVER EVER AGAIN (if I can help it)
Gatlinburg (someone please explain the attraction to this place)
Memphis, TN
Branson, MO
Atlanta (and I live here!)
Anywhere in South Georgia
Clemson, SC or anywhere in SC for that matter
WDW (we are going for a conference in March and I am dreading it -- who knew you could have a conference in the WDW resort????)
Any cruise (you spend 7 days on a boat with my family! You wouldn't make it past day two!)
ALWAYS WILLING TO HOP A PLANE:
San Diego (want to live there!)
Zurich
Yosemite (even though its packed!)
Alaska
Grand Canyon (at sunset)
Bangor, Maine

Want to go to again and again.
1. London - any time, my favorite place on earth.
2. Bavaria in Germany. Beautiful scenery, great people and fabulous food
3. San Francisco. A million things to do and see.
4. New York. Simply the best. Something for everyone. Truly America's hometown.
5. Tennessee. Love the hills and the people. So friendly.
Never again.
1. Key West. I just don't get it.
2. Nassau, Bahamas. Just a town.
3. Israel. This was the best trip of my life and it was so special and so moving. I wouldn't go back again, because I don't think the second time could possibly live up to the first experience there. Everyone who hasn't been there should put this country on their must do list.
4. Carlsbad Caverns. Just a cave, not worth the time to get there.
5. Ireland. I felt like I was in Wisconsin (no offense) and except for some thatched roofs I could have been in the US. Didn't seem to have the culture of England.
Happy traveling.

Well- I must say I don't trust anyone that would rule out a whole country!!
People rule out Jamaica?
Where did you go? Montego Bay for 4 hours where the cruise ship dropped you off?
Costa Rica? Have you on the beach in a tiny surf town when the turtles are hatching? Been in a little village square when the whole town is lit up for a party and a young stranger asks your "beautiful daughter" (who is your lovely but 60 y.o. wife) to dance?
The whole state of Florida? Have you been on a little cottage on stilts on a little island and walked to the only spot in town to eat and drink and had a homemade key lime pie while you listened to the fishermen talk about their day?
All of Mexico??
Have you celebrated "day of the Dead" with the throngs of people in Oaxaca?
Have you been to Chichen-Itza at the vernal equinox?
Come on!
I could never rule a place out. I thought I had enough of L.A. for a life time until I showed someone around and saw it through a whole new set of eyes.
I value my ability to travel and if conditions were right- I'd turn almost no place down.
Would I want to see WDW again? NO-not now but I think I would not turn down a chance, if blessed with grandchildren, to buckle in my grandchild into those damn teacups!

Places that I would return to:
*Costa Rica (This time I would go to Tortuguero during turtle nesting season)
*NYC (My favorite place on earth)
*Key West (I love the relaxed atmosphere, where else are there wild cats and chickens running around outdoor restaurants)
*The Alps (Sooo Beautiful and the lakes sooo clear)
*Amsterdam (I went during the winter, which was a big mistake. I would like to go back in the spring while the tulips are blooming)
*Vienna (So cultured, such great museums)
*Colorao (Except Denver)
*Oregon Coast
*Yellowstone and Yosemite (I was too young to remember much)
*Hawaii (Except Honolulu)
The first time was okay, but no need to go back:
*Chicago (Not impressed)
*Boston (I am glad that I went, but I think I saw most of the important attractions the first time)
*San Diego (The zoo was fantastic, but everything else was mediocre).
*Gettysburg (I was done with this place after two hours)
*Grand Canyon (Amazing, unbelievable in size, but once I was over that it became a very large, pretty hole in the ground)
*Munich (But the surrounding countryside ia beautiful!)
Wish I had not gone the first time and I would certainly not return:
*Las Vegas
*Cancun
*Orlando
*Baltimore (Except the Aquarium)
*Atlanta (THE Worst Large City in the US)
*Branson
*Wisconsin Dells
Glad I've Never Been To/On:
*WDW
*A cruise
Looking Forward to going to:
*Australia (This August)
*Italy (This May)
*Africa
*Alaska
*Indonesia
*Amazon (Next February)
*Thailand

The first rule of a good visit is to stay in a wonderful hotel and get the best of the local flavor. If you stay in a 5 star hotel it is hard not to find great things about almost anywhere.
Places that I do not need to go back to:
1. Anywhere in Texas except for Austin
2. Japan but you should see it once, especially Kyoto which has the most amazing food on this planet and is the cultural base for all Japanese architecture, Zen gardens, etc. Watch out! Extremely hot and humid in summer, I was there in over 100 degree heat and still really liked it
3. Singapore - end of the earth, don't waste your time
4. Chile - other end of the earth, sounds better than it is in person though the people are very nice -- if you must go stay at the Hyatt in Santiago
5. Las Vegas
6. Puerto Rico
7. Myrtle Beach
Places that demand a visit AT LEAST ONCE:
1. Israel, to visit Jerusalem and Bethlehem. If you are of the Christian, Islamic or Jewish faith, this is the most amazing place in the world. It takes a trip there, which I did on business, to understand what the ongoing conflicts are all about, and why everyone wants to dominate Jerusalem. This place will change your life forever. Stay at the Tel Aviv Hilton right on the beach.
2. Australia, particularly the Great Barrier Reef which is the most amazing diving or snorkeling spot in the world. Sydney is very fun as well.
3. St. Barth's, an island in the French West Indies (Carribean) that is as close to heaven as it gets on earth -- for couples only! Stay at Le Toiny.
4. London, forever and always London, and they are missing the Yanks! Great deals to London are available right now! Be sure to book lunch at Langan's Brasserie and dinner at Daphne's if you want to be in with the in crowd, see celebs, feel the plus of the city. Stay at Claridges.
5. The Alps, whether for skiing, climbing -- wonderful towns to choose from, start with Zermatt and the Matterhorn and go from there....stay at the Hotel Julen.
6. Big Sur and stay at the Ventana Inn
7. Paris ONLY with a great hotel, try the Crillon. Otherwise you will be subjected to God knows what. We just had a nightmare experience at the Intercontinental so who can tell anymore.
8. Hong Kong, try the JW Marriott, you will have a private butler who appears every time you return to your room to take care of you as best he can. The Conrad is also extremely nice with the best food from room service ON EARTH!!!
9. Rio de Janeiro, stay at the Copacabana Palace Hotel. Awesome scenery that dwarfs wonderful San Francisco and Sydney, great people, Carnival!
Places on my list that I have yet to go to:
1. Hawaii
2. Safari (Kenya, Botswana)
3. The Maldives which I understand may not be there much longer due to global warming
4. India - GOA
5. Egypt
6. Morrocco and Tunisia
7. Fiji, Moorea
8. St. Petersburg
9. Chamonix
10. Portugal
Thanks for a fun topic!!
