Pismo Beach, California lodging

We will be traveling from Anaheim to Monterey in March and we would welcome advice on a place to stay overnight that would split the drive in half. Our childen are 3 and 6 years old and would enjoy a hotel with a pool. My husband and I like an ocean view. I found Shelter Cove Lodge, Shore Cliff Lodge, Kon Tiki Inn and Pismo Lighthouse Suites after an internet search. Are these nice and really like their pictures on the web? Other options? Thank you.

I can recommend Shelter Cove Lodge, although it has been a couple of years since I stayed there. I remember that the pool, although not large, was kept very warm, which my kids loved. There was a staircase down to a small beach, if you are lucky enough to have good weather!

The Shore Cliff is really nice - great food, too. I stay there every time we visit my mother-in-law in Pismo Beach.

Another vote for the Shore Cliff. Rooms were spacious with a fridge and microwave. Pool looked nice (we were there in Feb so didn't use it) The restaurant was good, my DH is still talking about their cioppino.

Did Bugs Bunny ever find his way to Pismo Beach?

Thanks for all the helpful replies. I'm sure we'll enjoy staying at Pismo. Keith, if we see Bugs, we'll tell him you said 'hello'.

My husband and I usually stay at the Shore Cliff, but it's not within easy walking distance of downtown Pismo and it's on the cliff's so you can't get down to the beach, so if that's something you would like you may want to look at other options.

Friends of ours always stay at the Kon Tiki so they can take walks on the beach, but in March the weather will be cooler.

We stayed at the Spyglass Inn in Shell Beach, near Pismo Beach, a few months ago and liked it. I don't remember if it had a pool, but it has a web site. We had a large ocean view room.

I used to stay at the Kon Tiki all the time...I loved the value of it (don't know what it costs now though...I stayed there often 7 years ago, and it was 60 bucks a night or so). Clean, basic and great views.

I am actually up in Pismo this week, and saw that it still looks like it's a great place to stay!
