Photos: Bryce Canyon and Zion National Parks

http://tinyurl.com/6yzbbf

Over Labor Day weekend, I visited Bryce Canyon and Zion National Parks, the first among the most impressive natural landscapes I have witnessed, the latter much less so. I would rank Bryce Canyon at the top of the national parks I have visited (along with Yellowstone, Denali, Grand Canyon and the Everglades) and Zion near the bottom (along with Acadia and Great Smoky Mountains).

Bryce is my favorite after the Grand Canyon, and your photos are amazing! You've captured it perfectly, and so many times!!

Hope you were far away from the snake not to be threatened.

Gorgeous pictures, thit_cho. Thank you for sharing them here.

I have always been awed by the beauty of Bryce, and like you, it certainly ranks near the top of my Best of the National Parks list.

Happy travels!

Mter,
Those pictures were stunning. We had trouble getting any good shot in Antelope Canyon. Yours are amazing!
Thanks for sharing.

Myer, great photos. Its interesting to see that at least a few of our photos look like duplicates -- there are many inconic vistas in Bryce, one of the most photogenic places I have visited.

Thank you everybody for the compliments, but the great photos are the product of the park (where its virtually impossible to take a photo), not me.

schmerl,

I knew in advance what the issues would be in taking photos at Antelope Canyon.

I have a digital SLR camera that allows me to do what I want with manual settings.

Also, I used a tripod.

The first thing the guide told people was to use the highest ISO possible. Obviously, that's for a hand-help P&S camera.

I used a low ISO for quality.

The photos I took were anywhere from 6 seconds up to over 20 seconds.

No way to do that hand-held.

Glad you liked them.

thit-cho,

Last year I went to Bryce, Zion, GC & Sedona.

Great weather and photo opps.

This year I went with a friend to Moab (Arches, Canyonlands), Capitol Reef, Lower Calf creek Falls, Willis Creek (a slot canyon nobody knows about near Bryce) and since my friend had never been there we stoped in Bryce for a few hours on the way back to SLC.

The day before it was 95 degrees at Lower Calf Creek Falls and the day we went to Bryce it was 35 degrees and snow flurries.
