As avid photographers, we are looking for suggestions for places that will offer some interesting and, perhaps , unusual or "off the
beaten path" possibilities. We will be staying in the Plymouth-Ashland area, but we do not mind drives of two hours or so. Our vacation starts on October 6 and ends on October 13. The Camera Club to which we belong is extremely competitive, so we would really appreciate your assistance.

King Richard's Faire is on weekends -- lots of color and action.

Purgatory Chasm state reservation is nearby -- dramatic views.

MA in the Middleboro area. If not, please tell us the exact location.

It is in Carver MA, very close to Plymouth.

Hmmmm. Are you talking about Plymouth-Ashland NH, or Plymouth-Ashland MA?

It appears that both towns exist in both states. Your `massteacher' id had me thinking Massachusetts.

We have been having foggy mornings esp near water. I would look around the Squam Lake area. You might get some interesting shots in the Center Sandwich area. There's quite a few places with rocky stream beds. Some back roads have a good view of Baldy. If you are really lucky like we were one day you'll see some black bears. There's also a pretty little chapel, maybe Tamworth across from a field. The Warner Fall Foliage Festival is Oct 7-8. Check the times for the parade, expect to see some 4-H pony club and working steer club kids with their animals. Also, Center Sandwich has an agricultural fair that weekend. Musterfield Farm Museum in Sutton NH (sort of between New London and Warner)has some interesting buildings on the grounds. It's still a working truck farm with farmstand. Picturesque spring house. On a maple lined dirt road. You have to drive past a lovely little lake to get there and the road is lined with lovely lake cottages. On the Wilmot side of Mt Kearsarge there's an auto road to a picnic area with a nice view looking out toward Lake Sunapee. Hope you have a Delorme NH Atlas and Gazetteer to help you navigate the back roads. We use it a lot. It also gives the location of waterfalls and covered bridges. If you look around the Hillsboro NH area keep your eyes open for some stone arch bridges, they are very unusual and very interesting. There's a well maintained one room school house in Hillsboro Center next to a pretty common. Very pretty area. Have fun!

dfrostnh: I was hoping to hear from you. I have not been on this website for many months, but I always enjoyed your responses in the past.. Thank you for the suggestions. We will attempt to find some of these places.
