Phoenix restaurants

Hi everyone,
The DH and I will be in Phoenix on Oct. 23 for the football game. I am looking for something decent for lunch for the 2 of us. Would like to try something unique, not a chain. We like all kinds of food (steak, seafood, pasta, Mexican... We will only be there for the game so we will be in shorts and/or jeans and t-shirts so no where too fancy, but something decent. Flying in, renting a car, so anywhere near airport or stadium would be great. Any suggestions??

When we were in Phoenix for a convention we loved Sam's Cafe so much we kept going back. It's near the convention center in a small plaza that also contains a Hooters. There was seating both indoors and out. Another poster said this was a chain but it sure doesn't look like one. They serve a mixture of taco and sweet potato chips and two different salsas while you are looking through the menu. Try not to fill up on these. The menu is southwest flavors but not traditional. Our waitress was so good she remembered what we had ordered the night before. I would love to go back for their crab cakes with chipotle mayonnaise. Unfortunately, it's not near the airport but this post will top your request.

We liked Pizzeria Bianco. Tons of great home made pizzas, and you MUST try the salad Caprese - they make their own mozzarella!

Also, Monti's la Casa Vieja served delicious and economical food.

If you think you might make it over to the Scottsdale area, Banderas is good. The steak there was AMAZING. Yum!
