Hello, I'm getting married in a few months, and I wanted to get some advice on where to stay on the night before, and the night of my wedding in Philadelphia.

The night before I am staying by myself. The night of the wedding I'm staying with my new bride. Room size is not terribly important as we won't be spending too much time in there. Hotel facilities also are not important as we're going to be arriving late and leaving early.

Of course, we're looking for upscale accomodations, but romance is the key. A canopied bed, jacuzzi tub, fresh flowers in the room and a sense that the staff understands that this is a special night for us and will help us out.

Food or breakfast is not important becuase we're going to be eating out every time.

We want to stay in either Centre City (preferred) or in the Main Line area. We want the nicest hotel we can afford - and we hope to spend less than, oh let's say roughly $170/night.

We have a couple of thoughts:

Four Seasons - we're staying at one of their resorts for our honeymoon. Will this make them more likely to allow us to stay in one of their suites (upgrade) while only paying rates for a normal room? If we book a standard room will they be able to possibly pamper us with some special services like lighting candles around the room in anticipation of our arrival?

Omni - Lots of our guests are staying here. We negotiated a volume discount with them. Would they possibly be willing to let us stay in one of their suites? Can anybody comment on the rooms?

B&Bs in downtown? Although the breakfast is not important to us, we'd be interested in staying at a quaint bed and breakfast, possibly in the Rittenhouse area of town.

Any comments or general direction would be greatly appreciated.

Congratulations. I stayed at the St. Regis at Christmas. No jacuzzi but plenty of cozy romance. The staff was excellent, just let them know what is going on. We paid $189 a night and it was well worth it.

That was Four Seasons at Christmas 2002. Sorry about that!

The Rittenhouse Hotel has excellent rooms with beautiful views of the Square and first class service. However, you will have to spend more than $170 a night.

For one night on your honeymoon, splurge! The Ritz Carlton, center city location, top of the line accomodations, and stunning public spaces. At the least, make sure you have dinner or a drink at the hotel.

I stayed at the Loew's hotel 2 years ago. The rooms were Art Deco, and i had a lovely view of downtown Phily. Bathrooms had fluffy towels and marble fixtures--very luxurious. I also had a chaise lounge in the room. I suggest you go to their website for the best rates--I paid $145/nt. Also has a health spa & restaurant onsite. If you join their priority club, you get extra benefits.

Do hotels leave candles burning in guests' rooms? Wouldn't they donsider that a fire hazard?

I would suggest the Four Seasons at 18th and the Parkway. Its a great property in close proximity to the Art Museum.
