Philadelphia in one day

Hi,
I live in NYC and would like to visit Phil this weekend, maybe on saturday. As I will be here for one year and can always go back there, do you think that an entire day would be reasonable for a first visit to the city? We want to see one or two museums (Rodin and Philadelphia Museum of Art) and do some walking tours.
Thanks,
Gus

For walking tours, go to the Visitor Center on Independence Mall. You could easly spend the day in the musuems.

Thanks. I think we will visit the Rodin Museum. What are the other suggestions, for an one-day trip?

The new Constitution Center next to the Visitor Center gives you a good overview of the formation of our constitution and the visit to Independence Hall is interesting.

I f you want to go through Independence Hall, you need to go to the Visitor's Center first and get a ticket with at specific time for you to go. I would do that first thing and then plan your day around that time. There are many walking and bus tours around Phila. Go to www.gophila.com for loads of information.

The other POSTS are great.Picture the east/River side of the city as historic and base a day around the Constitution Center. If time allows, you could walk south on 9th street thru the Italian Market to the CheeseSteak gold mines.A second day could be built around the west and NW areas over the the Art Museum & Univ. of Penn.Amtrak to Philly 30th Street and then SEPTA east to Market Street is amazingly easy.Enjoy.
