Peter Luger: baby friendly?

My husband just passed the bar, and I'd like to take him to Peter Luger to celebrate (he's always wanted to go). We have a 1-year-old... is it at all baby-friendly? Typically in that price range I would say no, but it does seem that an "old school place" might be okay. Do they even have high chairs?

We can consider the Long Island location if that's better, though it's a bit of a haul.

I doubt they will turn you away, especially if you plan on dining fairly early in the evening. Why not call the restaurant directly and ask if they have highchairs? Sometimes going to the source will get you the best answer.

It's a noisy, chaotic place. I can't imagine anyone caring particularly on a Sunday, but I doubt if it would matter on a Saturday either. Call them about the high chairs. Just beware that even with a reservation, there is always a wait and the bar area is very crowded.

Congrats to you and your dh

The Luger on long island is not nearly as good IMHO.

Babysitter might be a good investment or consider going a lunch time given the long wait and the atmosphere.

Thanks very much!! I really appreciate the advice. My in-laws have now decided they would like us all to go when they're here over Thanksgiving (if we can get a reservation) so we'll try for lunch. Thanks for the heads up about cash-only as well.

Note: Peter Luger now accepts debit cards (not credit cards) in addition to their own credit card, checks, and cash.

We were just at PL for lunch last week and saw 3 babies in the dining room. One table I noticed had brought their own booster seat. HTH ...
