It is about a 20 minute drive from the airport to Pearl Harbor. The easiest means of transport, by far, would be taxi. Last I knew bags of any sort were not allowed into Pearl Harbor - so you'll either have to do without a carry on for your flight or make arrangements to store your bags somewhere.

Waikiki is about five miles from the sirport; Pearl Harbor is about the same distance but in the opposite direction. There are plenty of inexpensive car rentals in Hawaii - especially with the smaller, local companies - and I would always recommend that route over a taxi.

Don't know if you're a history buff, but if so don't miss the chance to go to Pearl Harbor. Even if you have to check your bags and pay for a taxi.
It's really not very far --- and you'll never forget it.

Pearl Harbor is very close to the airport. I would say only 10 minutes or so if there's no traffic. I've taken the bus with no problem. You can (at least, as of August) check your bags at the visitor center, but give yourself extra time, because there is always a line.
