Just making a guess here, but I wonder if it could be because that Patrick contacted the restaurant where PalmPilot said he had a problem with the wine list. Not that I am making any kind of judgement, but I wondered about that when I read it.

Huh? Why ban Patrick? His opinions are well formed, he writes in complete sentences, and he doesn't attack a user with personal barbs.
If he was a lawyer I'd want him to defend me in court.
Now, if I did have a hovering finger, I would ban a few thousand people I'd ban before Patrick.

"No word from Fodors yet on why I was banned"
Well, don't hold your breath, dear. Life is much too short to wait for any smart, forward-thinking changes in the world of publishing.
I continue to read, "You're screename "NYCFoodSnob" is temporarily blocked" and many months have passed. Luckily for me, I've got a boat-load of clever monikers-in-the-waiting.
At least you heard from someone at Fodor's.
Even without hearing from anybody, I know why I was banned. I slapped an editor (cough, cough, spit, spit) in the face and it was obvious to just about everybody (except the editor and Holly) that I was joking. My goodness, I LOVE editors, even the ones who are faking it. Knowing what I know about publishing, I should have known better. It's hard to work in that industry and keep a sense of humor.
I hope you fair better than me, Patrick, and get your name back but I doubt you will. Fodor's doesn't permit double-posting and since you obviously re-registered (as did I), the deal is sealed.
I do like BannedPatrick and suggest you wear it with pride. I hope all is well with you and your loved ones and I look forward to reading and enjoying your posts.
