Any suggestions for a mid-august trip to a party city for 2 nights in the Northeastern US? 4 to 6 single guy friends looking almost exclusively for nightlife (partying, clubs/bars, and yes girls...), but ideally not a huge and expensive city. Perhaps a lesser known place that you'd recommend and the reasons why...THANKS!!!
Coming down from Montreal so ideally 4 to 8 hours max max max as an FYI (Boston 4 hrs, Philly 6hrs, Washington DC 8 hrs as a reference)

Maybe Northampton, MA. But it'll be quieter in August than during the school year. It's a college town (5 colleges in the area) so lots of bars.

Definitely Newport RI. For single guys looking to party, it is the place in the summer.

Opinions on Hampton Beach? Family vacation place only or is it young and 'open late' as well?

In NY, the bars are open till 4am. (At least they used to be. )

Dewey Beach DE, also near Ocean City MD

Lots to do in both areas.

Hampton Beach would be a resounding no from me. Seriously, go to Newport, you will have a great time.
