Parking in Providence

We'll be staying at the Renaissance Hotel(through Priceline) near the Providence Place Mall next weekend. The Hotel wants $25 a day for parking. We'll mostly be walking around, is there any cheaper parking nearby?

I would say to stick with the hotel. Maybe the Providence Place Mall garage would be cheaper for 24 hours but you wouldn't want to leave your car there overnite!!

I would definitely stick to the hotels parking, there are other parking garages, but it would definitely be a inconvience considering the proximity of the hotel to downtown. Plus you may want your car handy. Not much to do downtown providence. The mall is great but, that is it. I would take ride to thayer st, federal, hill and you can park on the street. If on thayer street, check out east side pocket for lunch. Federal hill is loaded with restuarant and bakery's and some shops. Five star breakfast nick's on broadway.

Thanks. We plan on sightseeing, RISD, Benefit St, Federal Hill, etc... Being from NYC we thought we'd walk everywhere and not use the car so much.. We thought everything was within a mile or two. Is this not so?

BTW same price at the Mall.

Well you could walk to the mall capital building, risd is quite a little walk, federal hill is a lot farther to walk but it is definitely not that close. For example risd about ten blocks away fedral hill alot more. But being from ny u might not mind the hike. Let me know if you need any restuarants suggestions, im the queen of that.
