Parking in Hoboken
We plan to take the Waterway ferry from Hoboken to NYC on Saturday afternoon and return Sunday morning. We were told the parking garage will cost $30 because it's over 12 hours.
Does anyone know of a better, less expensive way of parking?

If you take ferry from the NY Waterway location in Weehawken, their lot should only cost around $10.
Not sure what the garages in Hoboken cost, but $30 sounds high on a weekend. You can find a spot on the street. While the town has a "Resident" sticker requirement for longer than 3 hours, they rarely enforce it on the weekends.
If you take the ferry from the uptown pier, 13th Street, you should be able to find parking on Frank Sinatra Drive, about a 4 block walk.

The town's resident sticker program is pretty much not enforced on the weekends, but this is due to change ~May 1st.
Unfortunately, the garage prices have changed already, and $30 is right in the ballpark. I'll double check tomorrow and report back with a more accurate price.
Where are you coming from, as there may be better/cheaper alternatives than Hoboken.

At those prices have you considered just driving in? You could get 24 hours of parking in NYC for about $20-25 if you look around, the tunnel fee is $6 cash ($5 EZ Pass) and you'll be spare the cost of ferry and the need to wait for the ferry at each and and then take ferry shittle bus (free) to midtown or elsewhere. If your driving plans already take you into Hoboken, on a Saturday afternoon it's really fast and easy to get into the tunnel from Hoboken because you'll be using the lower approach, not the "helix" ramp that gets so congested with traffic from Rt 3 and the NJ Turnpike. Leaving on Sun mmoonring is even quicker. You can park at the secured "Park 'n Lock". Just go straight when you're coming out of the tunnel, following the signs for 42nd Street. Two short blocks after exiting the tunnel you'll reach 42nd Street - don't turn - just drive straight into the parking garage - can't miss it.

Just took the ferry over this morning for the first time. Parking was $6 at the NY Waterway dock at Port Imperial, but on a weekend you just might be able to park for free in the big parking lot across from the Chart House if you take the ferry from Lincoln Harbor, but I don't know that for a fact.

Do whatever you have to do to get on Route 3 or 495 towards the Lincoln Tunnel, but get off the last exit. It says "Hoboken" and whatever else, but it also says "NYC Ferries". Go all the way down to the bottom and follow the road around to the right. Make a left at the first light, go across the tracks and make a left at the fork. Port Imperial is down the road about a 1/2 mile or so on the right. There's alot of construction down there right now so if you miss the entrance to the parking lot the first time don't feel bad -- I did too.
