We will be in Palm Springs for four nights in mid-February. I am looking for suggestions for your favorite places to eat there regardless of price and cuisine. We like it all and would like to sample a bit of Palm Springs's best eats. Thank you!

We spent 3 weeks in Palm Springs in November. Take a look at my trip report, which mostly lists restaurants. We found we liked the more casual restaurants best.

The food was good everywhere we ate.

Le Vallauris. Superb but pricey for Palm Springs. However, I would call it moderate compared to similar restaurants in big cities such as New York.

We used to love Blue Coyote - I'm glad to see it on Kathie's list. My favorite dish was the Filete Jalapeño.

Last time we were there we had a lovely meal at Johannes.

We also like Sherman's.

One place we were not impressed with is Pimmes Frites (gave it two chances).

I don't have any recent experience so check Kathie's report but Sherman's served me raw chicken once.

For atmosphere I like the patio at Spencer's and I believe the food is still pretty good.

In general, lower your expectations for both food and service. It's just too busy in February. Also, if you have good Mexican food where you live, you'll be disappointed in most options.

Add Sammy G's Tuscan Grill to your list. Fine northern Italian cuisine - the risotto there is particularly good. I would have had it on my original post but I knew the name had changed since there and had to find the right one.

Yes, we liked Sammy G's as well.

Spencer's was good (albeit pricey). We were looking froward to he lovely patio as described by mlgb, but it was poring rain the evening we ate there, so the patio was closed.

Yes, traveling there in high season will be crowded, but the timing works out well otherwise. It is Modernism Week while we are there and I am hoping the museum will have some interesting things going on.

Is the Thursday evening market/street fair as fun as it sounds it might be?

werth - enjoy your stay. The museum is not large by big city standards but has a very nice eclectic collection and well worth a visit. We particularly liked the glass sculpture collection when we were there, but I don't know if that exhibit is still there. I hope that it is. We found the street market/fair enjoyable - lots and lots of crafts and we enjoy that.

A side trip the desert botanical garden was excellent. There is a cable car up to a high point where the views are fabulous. The tickets are often bundled with a restaurant up there. If you go, eat before or after and skip the restaurant. It was mediocre at best. A trip out to Indian Hills was nice too.

If you want a family style Italian restaurant with really good food, a huge glass of wine for 5 bucks, and very affordable, we like Mario's at Sunrise and Ramon. We have taken quite a few visitors there and so far it has been a hit every time.

If you like healthy food and smoothies, Palm Greens is a great suggestion. (On Palm Canyon just one block south of Ramon) Their breakfasts are so good. The breakfast bowl is my favorite. I'd like to try other things, but it is so good, I keep ordering the same thing. Free refills on their organic coffee. For lunch, my favorite is the Salad Sampler. They're open for dinner too. They also serve beer and wine. Everything they offer is organic and very yummy!

We had a great trip to Palm Springs even though the weather was pretty cool and overcast. Last year at this time it was 85. This time it barely broke 65.

We loved Copley's, Bill's Pizza, Kaiser Grill, Sherman's and last but not least Brandini's Toffee. Good eats.

I thought the museum was spectacular with some really amazing new installations.
