Palm Springs Resort - Marriott Palm Desert or new Morongo Casino in Cabazon (on the 10)
I am heading to the Palm Springs area for a quick one night girls weekend. I have done this at least 6 times a year for the past 3 years and have never had such problems getting a decent price...
Anyway, usually stay at the Marriott in Palm Desert and I have booked a cancellable ressie there for $400/night. I can usually get it for less than half of that!!! Looking at expedia though I noticed the new resort at the Morongo Casino (about 20-30 minutes west of Palm Springs on the 10, literally, on it) has a pretty good looking property, with places like N9ne restaurant and other Palms-type attractions - the pool looks great too...for only $200.
Our main reasons for going - poolside sunning and a nice night out.
My questions then:
1. Has anyone stayed here?
2. Do you think it will be annoying to be that far out of Palm Springs?
I am taking a couple of people who have never done Palm Springs before and I don't want to dissappoint or have them think I'm crazy to have been going there for so long...

We checked out the Morongo Casino last month, and had lunch in one of the restaurants. The place is brand new and really nice. Our girls group go out a couple times a year to the desert, and this spring will try Morongo and do a Spa day, as well as shopping at the outlets next door.
I do think it too far from PS if only spending one night there.

You didn't say when you were going, but I assume its soon. The weather at Morongo can be quite a bit cooler/rainier than in the valley. If you are interested mostly in shopping and gambling, then I'd say go for it. February-March are peak season in the desert, which may be why you've had a problem getting a deal on short notice.

The last comment is very accurate. In the winter/spring it can be raining and cool in the San Gorgonio Pass where the casino is located yet sunny and warm in the desert less than 15 miles away.
The casino looks pretty interesting and I have heard/read good things, but have not been there yet.
Let us know!!

Ok I decided to cancel Marriott Palm Desert, forgo Morongo and book the Miramonte in Indian Wells. It gets mixed reviews on trip advisor but for $199 what can you do? It's a bit far from the action but our main activities will be tanning and eating so I think it will be fine - and for one night what are you going to do? Hopefully it will be sunny!
