Palm Springs recommedations

Want to know where to stay. Up-scale/romantic. What about Estrella or Orbit In.

If you truly want upsacal/romantic in a secluded setting, the best in town is the Ingleside Inn.

Crazy as it might sound, this actually happened to us in South Bend once. The desk clerk refused to give us our credit card slip back when we rejected the room. She didn't come up with anything nearly as clever as "bath room charge and insult charge" however. That's pretty farfetched or pretty creative on his part. Did you get the employee's name? Did you complain to the management and give them a chance to right the situation or did you just decide to complain here and totally bash the hotel? It might be that the management would be as concerned and upset as you about this situation. I'm interested in what steps you've taken other than complaining to AAA, your credit card and now Fodor's. We too stay frequently on the central coast and while we've never stayed at Mariner's, any other place we've stayed on Moonstone Beach has been very acceptable. I've always thought Cambria had a very high standard (unlike South Bend!) Interested to hear more.

We just returned from a very romantic stay at the Willows. Our room, the Einstein room, had a private patio with the sound of the waterfall drifting over. The beds are very luxurious. It is the best hotel I've ever stayed in. I walked past the Orbit Inn and was not impressed with the grounds. The older part of the Orchid Tree Inn looks very nice and I was told that they recently renovated the rooms. The newer part is not very appealing.

We stayed last fall at the Orbit In and at the Willows. The Willows is the most fabulous spot in town, but we really enjoyed the Orbit In too! It's been very nicely redone with lots of extras. It's difficult to see from the road, but I would highly recommend it if you don't want to spend at the Willows!

We have reservations at the Andalusian Court--might want to check it out. Willows was out of our budget.

I wouldn't recommend Estrella. Whatever architectural charm existed has been renovated out of existence. what about Casa Cody, Korakia, Villa Royale or La Serena Villas? I would look at those before settling on Estrella.
