Have just received a Tineshare trade for a week in October at the SUNTERRA OASIS RESORT in Palm Springs. Does anyone have any info on the resort. Also, as this will be our first trip to Palm Springs, any info on Golf courses(will play 3 times), good restaurants for dinner only(any cuisine) and any other interesting things to do while there. We are mid 50's, decent shape, not into much night life.

October is the month that a lot of golf courses are closed for overseeding. Best to look in the local paper (Desert Sun) when you are there, and see who is advertising as being open during reseeding. Or check on line and see if their schedule is posted. Try Desert Willow in Palm Desert, Indian Canyons in Palm Springs, Desert Dunes in Desert Hot Springs for starters. You might have to look around a bit.

Appreciate the reply. Yea,I knew of the oeverseeding, unfortunately, this is the only time we can get away then, so we will take what we get. I ran into the same thing in Scottsdale this past year.

The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway is definitley worht a visit; there is a restaurant at the top that I have heard mixed reviews about.
Also, Joshua Tree National Park is very unique; it is about an hour away from Palm Springs.

Check out tug2.net for review of the timeshare.

If you like to hike, Joshua Tree is a good area to hike.

We really liked the food at Thai Smile--there are 2 of them, and the Marriott has some decent restaurants.

There are two restaurants at the top of the tram. "Pines Cafe" is a cafeteria and the food is not very good.

The more expensive restaurant is "Peaks". The food is good but overpriced.

Restaurant ideas: El Paseo Drive in Palm Desert: Sullivan's Steak House for steaks & jazz. Tommy Bahama's outdoor bar for drinks/appetizers. La Quinta: stop by Arnold Palmers for a drink (the food is so-so); but the golf memorabilia is definitely worth seeing. Hamburger at the bar at Hogsbreath (Clint Eastwood's place)...dinner food also so-so. Definitely stop by La Quinta Inn- beautiful flowers/property - really amazing. Several restaurants, the Mexican (El Adobe) is so-so. Take Hwy 61 towards San Diego for @30 minutes to the Sugarloaf Cafe for breakfast or lunch-pretty drive; good food (they serve beer/wine). For Italian: Castelli’s Ristorante 73098 Highway 111 Palm Desert. The Living Desert Wildlife & Botanical Park in Palm Desert is fun on a nice day. If you really get bored - check out the street fair in Palm Springs on Thursday evening or the weekend flea market on Monterrey Ave in Palm Desert. Skip the PGA West golf course-almost impossible but Ensena is nice and not to $$.
