Palm Springs - Amtrak and Taxi question

Hello, guys,
I want to go to PS in February, and it looks like the only option for me to take an Amtrak bus which will bring me to a stop at 3400 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way. How close is it to the airport? Are there taxis available at this bus stop? Is it a deserted area? Will I be safe there waiting for a taxi at 7 pm in mid-February when it's dark? Single fragile old female...

Looking at the map, that particular address should be right at the entrance to the airport. Still, it's far from ideal. Are you trying to get to the airport, or to a hotel?

You may have to call a cab, but at 7 PM that area shouldn't be too scary. Will you have a cell phone on you? I can try to find a phone number for a cab company....

Thank you, RJW, no, I won't have a cell phone... there should be a pay phone, I'll have a card. I'll be going to a hotel.

Anonymous, yes, Amtrak runs buses.

Hi Faina--

Here is a ground transportation website for PS Airport:

I've used City Cab (760 416-2594) quite often. They're prompt and courteous, big pluses in my book.

You would be literally at the entrance to the airport. There are plenty of taxis there. Also, this is on a Sunline transit route, so there would be good local bus service available. I would suspect that the Amtrak bus may stop at one of the Sunline stops.

The PS Police station is very close to the location you would be dropped off. But I don't expect you should have any safety concerns generally.

Good luck to you.

Thank you both, RJW and PS! Yes, the stop looked close to the airport on the map, but it's better to hear from the locals. Thank you for reassuarance! Of course I'll be back with a report... 5 months from now
