As a resident, I think it is one of the better values and locations. It is right in downtown PS, with loads of shops and restaurants nearby. I have put visitors there on occasion and they have always been satisfied.
As far as stuff for kids I can suggest the following:
- CDMOD. Children's Discovery Museum of the Desert in Rancho Mirage.
- The Living Desert. Lots of animals, activities.
- PS Aerial Tramway. Goes up Mt. San Jacinto. As long as there is no undue fear of heights it would be fine.
- Horseback riding at Smoketree Stables in PS.
- Jeep tours. Great, but maybe not really for kids under eight.
- Oasis Water Park. Opens in spring for the season.
- Market Night. Every Thursday night downtown. Palm Cyn is closed and there is a section with pony rides, inflatable bouncies, etc.
