Pali Ke Kua - Kauai!
Does anyone here have advice on a specific unit you liked (or weren't so pleased with) at Pali Ke Kua? We're only considering oceanfront (101-126 or 201-226) but not sure which one to go for since only about half have pictures online.
Also, has anyone booked using the Entertainment Discount Book or Saver's Club? I've heard you can get great discounts this way, but don't know where to go for more info. Do you have to go through Marc Resorts to use these?
Thanks!

Go for the second floor. We have stayed at Pali Ke Kua twice and really enjoyed the place.
They have much higher ceilings and seem much more open. Our place seemed much more tropical than the lower units..which merely seemd like " an apartment". The balcony on the second floor units offers, in my opinion, a better view of he sunset and the ability to sleep with the patio door open( the better to hear the ocean).
Keep in mind, most of these units are owned privately and rented by various companies. The quality, taste and condition the furnishings in each unit may vary

Last year we rented unit #224 at Pali Ke Kua. It was nicely furnished, clean and well equipped. It had a fantastic Bali Hai view. The website is kauai-rental-condo.com if you want to see photos. I highly recommend the unit. It is 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom on the second floor.

Friends stayed there this summer -- repeat visitors and they _always_ book an upstairs unit (for the view, and no ceiling noise).
We live just down the road from the complex and recommend it always. As noted, units are individually owned, so furnishings will vary. But the oceanview units always seem to be well-maintained.
If possible, you want a mountain/bay view -- ocean view is nice, but the other is sublime!

We also stayed here last year. Don't remember the unit number, but it was a lower level where the front door faced the parking lot, but the patio opened out onto a great cliff view, just not Bali Hai. Would not hesitate to stay there again, but would definitely spring for a Bali Hai view. Nice pool. Didn't eat at the restaurant though since we love eating up at the Princeville. FYI - rented through http://www.greathawaiivacations.com/

Yes, we stayed in one of the 200# units, as described in my Trip Report:
http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...1&tid=34491972
As I recall, turn it on also had a TR from one of the 100# units.

There also is good info. about individual unit numbers in www.wizardpub.com/kauai/kauai.html a.k.a. Kauai Revealed

Definately get a room on the second floor. It is nice to be able to leave your sliding glass door open in the evening and you can't do that on the ground floor. We stayed there about 4 years ago. It is a nice place but would have preferred upper level. We used our Entertainment book and did get a good deal with no problems. I believe we did go through Marc Resorts. As I recall, we just called the nubmner that was in the book and we were conencted to Marc Resorts. Now that I think about it, I believe the reason we stayed on the ground floor was that we were only able to get a one bedroom through the entertainment book but that might have changed. We love the Princeville area. It seems that no matter where we stay, we always end up in Hanalei for beaching, dinner and fun. Princeville is very lovely. We've stayed there 3 times, 2 condo's and a house. Be sure and grab a drink at the hotel there and watch the sun set.

From reading all the fine reviews from this forum and elsewhere, we booked a top floor ocean bluff 2 bedroom through Remax Kauai at a very decent price. They show pictures of the units they offer at their website and they have been easy to work with. We leave next week, so I can't give a first person evaluation yet, but if you decide on this locale, I'd check their website.
