Padre Islands

We have never been and are considering a camping trip next year. My question is I have read there seems to be an abundance of mosquitos on this island? Is there a time when they are less active? Has anyone been recently to confirm this? When would the best time be to go? We are thinking late fall or early winter in the Northeast. Thanks.

Padre Island covers a large area. The prettiest beaches are on South Padre.
Mosquitos should not be much of a problem during late fall or early winter, especially on the surfside areas. Bay areas might be more prone to mosquitos.
