Packing Help and Tips CA, UT, SD for next week!

The days are flying by and we're almost heading out on our 16 day trip to Napa-San Francisco-Yosemite-LAS- Sedona- Grand Canyon- Bryce-MOAB-Salt Lake City and Rapid City, and wondering what to take! Will it be cold in UT and SD?? Are fleece sweaters enough?
Should I pack a little of everything, shorts, pants, long and short sleeved shirts and some sweaters?? Mosquito repellants?

Anything else recommended??

Any other tips you can think of, please share. I am compiling my final itinerary and info list this weekend....

I find it best to take things that can be layered. A light jacket that is loose and water repellant that can double as rain gear if it is wet and can be used as a windbreaker and can have a fleece under it if it is cold. Pick a basic color like black, blue or brown for bottoms ( I think jeans go anywhere and with everything) and pick brighter easy care tops.

Temperature depends on elevation and the whims of mother nature, so be prepared for anything. Take comfortable walking shoes and wear the ones that take up the most room on the plane to save space for the other things.

Have a great trip!

"Should I pack a little of everything, shorts, pants, long and short sleeved shirts . . . "

None of those locations will likely have shorts weather except for maybe Las Vegas. Next week LV is supposed to have a bit of a cool snap w/ day time highs from the high 60's- mid70's.

Yosemite could have anything from highs in the mid 50's to the mid 30's (and will definitely be below freezing at night). Next week Yosemite Valley is expecting highs in the mid 40's and lows in the low 20's w/ possible snow.

SLC is supposed to have high 70's for the next few days -- but then plunge down to the high 50's next weekend.

You'll more likely need fleeces and sweaters than shorts/tees.

Since you are travelling by car once you land, I would just buy stuff like mosquito repellent and sun screen once you get here. No reason to take up valuable luggage space with that stuff for the plane trip. And while you'll need sun screen, you may not even need the mosquito repellent.

They are talking of the "last storm of the season" for next week, Monday and a few days after that should be cold and rainy in San Francisco. I would definitely bring a light jacket.

This time of year in SD the temps are usually daytime 60's/evenings cooler. Although sunny, breezy showers could make it chilly. I'd also recommend layering - slacks, tees with sweatshirts or a nice Spring jacket - comfortable shoes, not sandals. Mosquitos not out yet; save your space. If planning to purchase clothing as a souvenir, save packing space & wear as you buy! PS: Try The Firehouse in old downtown RC for good food/atmosphere.

Thanks everyone! I was looking at temps in San Fran and did find them lower...
I will make sure to pack accordingly and yes, probably just get the sun screen when we land.. since I need some pillows for the drive, and water...
Atlanta has had crazy weather too.. it goes from 84 one day to 55 at night sometimes.. or lower.. then high 66 another.. go figure..

Thanks again! Someone else recommended the Firehouse! Will have to check it out!
