Overnight between San Francisco & Los Angeles

I'd like some advice on where to overnight on the journey down Highway 1. My wife & I are planning on staying in San Francisco for a few days & then taking a couple of days to drive down the coast to LA. Any ideas on reasonable motels/hotels?

Thanks

My favorite...maybe a little out of the way...but wonderful...is the Tickle Pink in the Carmel Highlands...overlooking the Pacific.
Just thinking about it makes me want to go back....
It is prob one of the more "reasonable" places in that area.
If this web site doesn't work just type Tickle Pink on your search.
good luck!

Justin,

If you would do a Fodors Text Search at the top of the page, you would find several hundred threads about the same topic.

try the Best Western Caliver Inn in San Simeon, which overlooks the ocean, and is close to Hearst Castle.

Ragged Point Inn at the very southernmost point of the Big Sur Drive or anywhere on Moonstone Beach in Cambria (not far from the former). If you like B&Bs (I don't) J. Patrick House in Cambria is very nice.
