Outer Banks, Rainy Days?
We're heading to OBX next week with our 21-month old and with all the rain and overcast days the northeast has been getting I'm trying to be prepared for ways to entertain her besides the beach.
Hoping I won't need them, but any good spots we should hit indoors if the weather doesn't go our way?
Thanks,
Rachel

The NC Aquarium on Roanoke Island is a "do not miss" in rainy weather. Great interactive exhibits for kids (you can pet the small stingrays, pet the turtles, etc.).
The Roanoke Island Festival Park is also fun for kids and adults. They also have live performances for children in their nice auditorium there- magicians, musicians geared towards ids (singalongs, etc.) every week during the summer. call them for the schedule.
Here is a site w/info on both of the above.

P.S. For future rentals, rain potential is a good reason to rent a house/condo that offers access to the wonderful YMCA complex on Hwy 158 (the Bypass) in Nags Head. Many houses offer this, and it has a great indoor pool, exercise and yoga classes, workout facilities, organized childern's activity times indoors in their nice kids rooms, and babysitting "parents night out" each week, plus a nice outdoor pool w/a waterpark atmosphere and slides, etc.

Thanks, EMD. The Y is a great tip...wish I had known. We are renting a house in Southern shores and have never been to OBX before so suppose we'll get the lay of the land this go around.
Will certainly look into both places as rainy day options.
Thanks again!

obxgirl, did you get it then? I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
rfrank, also for the future if you stay in a house, condo or townhouse in Corolla Light that area has an indoor pool (and indoor tennis courts) that comes w/the rentals, but the prices are generally higher than Southern Shores.
For the future, many rental agencies in OBX have features now on thier rental sites where you can search for houses/condos that offer the YMCA feature.
