Orlando Suggestions--Other than WDW

Looking for restaurants and must-sees, aside from Disney, Epcot, etc.

you don't say if you have kids, how many, sophistication when it comes to food. International Drive is home to almost every restaurant chain or concept in the world. Two that are not large multi-chains are TuTuTango which is sort of new cooking, like tapas bar with lots of hors d'oeurves that you can make a meal of. We like Bahama Breeze which looks good and has good food. Better food is at Pebbles. Universal is getting ready to compete head to head with Disney with their new park...

Audrey,
One of my favorite places is Medievil Times. It is a dinner theater on US192 in Kississmee. They do jousting (o.k. for little ones)and each person is assigned an area to eat and cheer for their knight. They also have a medievil town that you can visit before the show.
I also liked Gatorland. It is mostly gators and is very interesting. They have a great show also. It is at 14501 S. Orange Blossom Trail ( also known as US 17/92/441-it changes numbers as it goes south)
The Kennedy Space Center on the east caost is great. It takes about 1 hour I think to get there from Orlando once you get on the Bee Line toll road. It is well worth the drive.

Thanks for the suggestions so far; I should have added that we are four adults on this trip, no children; only one of us has never been to Disney, etc., so we'll want to do other things, and eating well is one!

Gatorland and Medievil Times are both fun for adults...or at least I enjoyed them...

4 Adults and no kids - looking for fun and good food? A definite must is Rachel's. It's an adult entertainment club, very upscale. And 5-star restaurant. Extensive wine list. Delicious filets. Fresh bread. After dinner, have a few drinks in the lounge and enjoy the scenery. A wonderful evening. And it's definitely NOT Disney. It's better!

imagine I don't have to warn you about the ridiculous Rachel's listing, unless you like topless clubs.

Best restaurant in Orlando by consensus of most in Manuels on 28th (as in 28th floor), I also like Chathams on Dr. Phillips road. These both serve innovative food with emphasis on Florida's strengths, fresh local fish and produce. One of the best places at Disney is on top of the Contemporary Hotel: California Grill...incredible wine list and every wine is available by the glass and to take home as well. Beware though, some are 20-25 per glass but you can try some amazing wines that you might otherwise not try.
