Orlando-Potter World

Has anyone been to Universal recently? Is Potter world running any of it's rides? Was there any indication as to when it will open? I saw on their website they are seeling packages that show a grand opening date of May 28th but when I spoke with Universal they said it is not official yet. However, I heard from a co-worker that they are already running the rides so I'm just wondering what's true as we will be there early May.

There should be some information revealed tomorrow, Thursday, March 25.

It looks like the grand opening will be June 18th.

Thanks Orlando Vic for keeping us up to date.

Now we have to guess when the soft opening starts.. They've promised the Harry Potter packages from May 28th so perhaps it'll open a day or two before that... maybe..

Our last day in Orlando is May 23rd; so close but I think we will just have to plan another trip!

I'm really bummed about the 6/18 date.

We're booked for 6/2 and I really thought it would be fully running by then since HP packages were being sold for 5/28 arrivals.

They're not promising anything, even soft opening access, to guests that didn't book the actual HP package.

I'm thinking about changing my dates.

We're having the same dilemma. Not sure if we should play it safe and pay to change our dates. It would be extremely odd for them not to do a soft opening so it wouldn't surprise me if things were running for even a month prior to the grand opening but if it wasn't it would be so sad to miss it.

Luckily, I booked with Southwest, so I can change my dates and not lose any $ BUT airfare is a bit higher for my August dates and the room category I wanted is not available. I'm guessing August will be more crowded, too.

Universal has already changed their policy from yesterday for onsite guests from "no chance" to now being given an opportunity to "preview" WWoHP. No details were given on what that means exactly...I would be really disappointed if we weren't able to experience everything, especially the Forbidden Journey attraction. I wish they would be more upfront/specific about what preview means.
