Oregon Coast Resorts, B&B's?

Anyone have any recommendations for resorts, B&B's, hotels, etc. on Oregon Coast? On the beach with fantastic views?

The Oregon coast has many beautiful places to stay, from north to south. Salishan is probably the most famous resort, but my budget usually puts me in places like Sailor Jacks (wonderful ocean view, easy beach access) in Lincoln City. Cannon Beach is a very artsy upscale ocean front town with many nice places and famous Haystack rock providing great tidepools at low tide. A somewhat shabby down-on-its luck beach town w/a great beach and inexpensive places to stay (and fewer tourists) is Rockaway Beach.
Here's one of my favorite web links:

There are many nice B&Bs on the Oregon coast. Channel House in Depoe Bay has a great view. The one to AVOID is one south of Yachats called Seaquest. What horrid hosts Seaquest has. Our stay was the worst B&B visit we have ever had anywhere.

Frank:

If you want a real treat, visit the Sea-Vue Motel (also See-Vue Motel), located south of Yachats, but north of Seaquest. If you're ready for a really funky, but clean and extremely comfortable room give them a call and ask for the "Crow's Nest". This oceanfront place has about 10 rooms, all set up on a cliff with unobstructed ocean views. The "Crow's Nest" is actually set on top of the motel and is all alone up there so the view is even more fantastic. I believe they have a website or look under the Yachats Chamber. This is a glorious stretch of shore and a wonderful place for whale watching. This inexpensive little place is one of my very favorites. (Do not expect plush, but it's very comfortable and only about $60/night.)

I'm sorry to hear about Seaquest (previous post). We stayed there many years ago and had a great time. The hosts then were Elaine and George. I understand that they've had Seaquest on the market for several years, it's a truly lovely place, but very expensive ($150+).

You can't beat the views (or price) from See-Vue.

Regards.
Phyllis

Aprox 7 yrs ago we stayed at Otter Crest or the Inn at Otter Rock (cant remember the exact name; its on the coast at Otter Rock. It was a large condo building with each condo being let out to vacationers. Great location; on the cliff overlooking the water. Very good restaurant on the grounds. Would recommend it to anyone. Caveatince each unit is owned individually I would presume they are all furnished differently. Also, must be able to walk; lots of steps etc. I know they have a website.

I'm surprised about the negative comment on SeaQuest. I've had a wonderful stay there. I do think the B&B's outside of Yachats offer some of the best real estate on the coast in terms of charm and beauty (very few visitors too). There are other great B&Bs in the same area. I would definitely look into them.

This is the best B&B directory for Oregon: http://www.moriah.com/inns/

Funny you should mention that Seaquest place in Yachats. We had a bad time there about a year ago. My wife cried as the hostesss was so nasty to her. We left early the next morning as my wife didn't even want to see that hostess anymore. I would say to anyone: stay away from the Seaquest in Yachats!

Growing up in Southern Oregon. I would recommend Bandon. Several B and B's and the Sunset Motel actually overhangs from a cliff, overlooking the beach! It has an indoor jacuzzi and rooms are very clean. The beach at night is surreal with the strange rock formations.

I stayed at the Stephanie Inn which is in Cannon Beach last Fall. It was (is) spectacular. I am 3,000 miles away, and think of going back. Nothing compares!! Yes, it is expensive, but well worth one or two nights. An oceanfront room is a must.
