Oregon & Southern Washington-Is Sept 26-Oct 3 a good time?

We had plans to fly to Portland this Friday and return over Labor Day weekend. Unfortunately due to my father's illness, we must postpone our trip. Due to commitments at work, I won't be able to travel until Sept 26-Oct 3. We are planning to fly to Portland, drive to the coast, go north to visit several sites that are part of Lewis & Clark National Historic Park, and then return to Portland with a side trip to the gorge.

Is the weather still usually good at that time of year? I had planned our trip for this coming week because I read that August and Sept are the optimal times to visit, but wonder if delaying until late Sept/early Oct is a good option?

Thanks for any advice that anyone can offer.

The weather is usually beautiful in these parts that time of year, and lodging is cheaper. I think it is a great time to visit Portland and surroundings.

HTTY-

Thank you so much for the information. Perhaps rescheduling will turn out better than our original plans.

The later into the fall, the more you risk rain, which typically starts in ernest in late October. But, in western Oregon rain is always a risk, so I wouldn't let it deter your plans.

I think it's still a good option & fine time to visit PNW, you have a good chance of nice fall weather those weeks. It's always a gamble around here!

We have been enjoying our time in Portland! We stayed at The Benson this past Sat.night and had a lovely dinner at Pazzo. We had breakfast at the London Grill, lunch on the patio at Fenouil and toured the Rose Gardens. Wine tasting at Ponzi was very nice, also.

Yesterday afternoon we were back in Portland and had an amazing meal at Le Pigeon, my new fave in the area! ***kim***
