I must agree -- you are trying to squeeze an awful lot of sights into 1 month! We are going to the East Coast: DC,Williamsburg, the coast of DE,MD,and VA, various sites in VA, Northern PA, and Niagara Falls. We are going for 23 days, and feel like we may be doing too much in that time with 4 kids! (We are from MN, and are driving a 13 hour day and an 8 hour day the first 2 days just to get to DC...).
If you can make it 2 months, and plan to just stop quick here and there, it is doable. But, as someone else mentioned, it does matter whether you are interested in really getting to know an area or just want a "taste" of the entire U.S.
