I'd go to a blues club for that. Not all are in neighborhoods a tourist would want to wander into.

Otherwise, I'm not sure what St. Louis style music is. Scott Joplin? Nelly? A local band that gets us out of house at the moment is Western Satellites -- but that's more retro and western swing-- and Swing DeVille, gypsy jazz.

Lots of great local bands.

Kim Massie - she sings blues/jazz - and is a fantastic entertainer - funny too. She visits other cities as well.

There are tons of great local bands.

Two places that have found music that sounds pretty good (at least from checking out youtube) and will be performing the night we are there.

BB’s Jazz, Blues, and Soup:
LeRoy Pierson
Charles (Skeet ) Rodgers & The Inner City Blues Band

Hammerstones:
The Jeremiah Johnson Band with The Sliders (9pm-

Flip a coin. They're within a half mile of each other. I think either would be fun.

afterthought: The Bottleworks, my neck of the woods, is a local brewery for Schlafly beer. They don't do public tours, but if you like giant shiny tanks you can admire them through the window. Tonight, from 5 to 8 PM, a jazz/classical guitarist Dave Black plays. You could start your evening there if you wished.

The food is popular, and of course lots on tap.

stokebailey - just an FYI, the bottleworks in Maplewood does have tours from 12-5 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Unless they canceled them recently, we went on one in July.

Back from our trip, did not get to do some stuff on my list. I thought we'd be able to do more than we did. Will post my trip report soon. I always over estimate!

A sad side note:
The founder and visionary of the City Museum was killed in a tragic accident yesterday involving a bull dozer or cement mixer.
He contributed a lot to St. Louis! Very sad.
