I'd go to a blues club for that. Not all are in neighborhoods a tourist would want to wander into.
Otherwise, I'm not sure what St. Louis style music is. Scott Joplin? Nelly? A local band that gets us out of house at the moment is Western Satellites -- but that's more retro and western swing-- and Swing DeVille, gypsy jazz.

Two places that have found music that sounds pretty good (at least from checking out youtube) and will be performing the night we are there.

afterthought: The Bottleworks, my neck of the woods, is a local brewery for Schlafly beer. They don't do public tours, but if you like giant shiny tanks you can admire them through the window. Tonight, from 5 to 8 PM, a jazz/classical guitarist Dave Black plays. You could start your evening there if you wished.

stokebailey - just an FYI, the bottleworks in Maplewood does have tours from 12-5 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Unless they canceled them recently, we went on one in July.
