Omni Charlottesville - Any experience??

We (husband, son age 15 and myself) will be in Williamsburg, VA later this month and I am thinking of spending one night in Charlottesville to visit Monticello. The Omni Charlottesville looks like a nice choice. Does anyone have any experience with this hotel or any other suggestions.

Should we stay right in Charlottesville or closer to Monticello? Your thoughts would be appreciated.

I stayed there and the location is very convenient. Otherwise it's an extremely mediocre place. The Sunday brunch is good.

Well, I guess mediocre is okay for one night as long as it's clean and in a safe area. Do you have a better idea?

I did the same thing last year-one nite over then on to Monticello.
Its a nice place, right on the little mall there. decent restaurant across from the ice skating rink. seems safe enough as there are many other tourists around. Its also a easy drive to Monticello which is great. its a good move-have fun.

If you want to splurge for 1 night, you could check out Keswick Hall or the Boars Head Inn. Keswick is probably closest to Monticello, but it will be more expensive.

Unfortunately, they are both sold out.
