Olympic Peninsula mosquitoes

Silly question, probably, but how big a problem are mosquitoes around the rain forest areas on the O.P.? My husband HATES mosquitos. (By the way, did you know that putting a sheet of Bounce beside your bed chases off mosquitoes?)

Thanks for the Bounce tip. I'll give it a try.

I was once chased out of Florence by mosquitoes, ending up in Siena (which is a good thing).

Cutter has come out with a product, called Cutter Advanced with a new active ingredient--Picaridin. It is supposed to be effective and odor free. I bought some on sale at Walgreen's last week, but I haven't opened it or had occasion to use it yet. It is also available at REI, and probably loads of other places.

I don't particularly remember mosquitoes on the OP, but they are every where so your family might as well be prepared. If they're not on the OP, they're bound to be some place else.

Another Bounce tip (please don't shoot me because this isn't travel related) -

If you put a dryer sheet in a baking pan or casserole dish with cooked-on gunk and let it soak in the water, the pan will wipe clean without any scrubbing. Magic! My white Corning Ware baking dishes have never been so spotless - at least since they were new!

Okay, now travel related - I did not notice any mosquitoes on my three trips to the OP.

well, my husband HATES mosquitos as well. And when we were at Hoh last year, in early September, we were not bothered by them. I'm sure I would remember if he complained about it. And we didn't even take any bug spray.

Thanks for the reassurance. Of course, the mosquito haters amongst us probably won't believe there's no problem, anyhow!
Maybe I should start a new Bounce for travel thread??

Are mosquitos on the Olympic Peninsula of Gold Medal caliber?
