Olive Oyl, I have a question for you!
My husband is a Hyatt Gold Passport member and has earned 3 free nights with their "free nights faster" promo. I of course had a hard time booking the nights since they allot very few rooms per hotel for this free promo. I managed to book all but one night, which I planned to use at the Baltimore Inner Harbor Hotel when my mom, ny sons and I will be driving through.
I booked the room, then at the last moment I mentioned to the reservationist that my husband would not be with me. She then said I couldn't use the room, that he had to be checking in with me! Is this true? Since he can't stay any nights of the very few that are available, I guess he'll have to forfeit the night. This doesn't seem right to me.
They advertise these programs but then make it extremely difficult for members to use them. Could you ask your husband if a wife can use her spouses free night? I imagine he might know more than the reservationist. Thanks a lot Olive, I appreciate it.

Here's his response, Nina. Not great news but hopefully you can find something in here you can use.
"There is not a simple answer, of course, but essentially the program she is referring to is a coordinated promotion between Hyatt Gold Passport and American Express. The short answer is it is not transferrable and the GP member must be present.
For a straight Gold Passport point redemption if you are a Platinum or Diamond level member you can transfer your points , much like we use our AA miles for the kids.
Long story short here is the number for the Gold Passport Desk 1-800-304-9288 and they can help her with specific answers."
I'll stick my own neck out a bit and venture that nothing is written in stone, especially in this day and age. I think you'll find GM's to be a pretty accommodating bunch...but you didn't hear that from me, OK? LOL Good luck, Nina. I've never been to that hotel but hear it's in a great location.

Yes, it's on Light Street, just across the street from Inner Harbor - and near Camden Yards, which is a terrific place to see baseball. If you're driving, get a good map of Balt. - you'll be located just off Pratt Street, which runs along the harbor area. The convention center is right there as well, and the aquarium. Enjoy.
