Old City St. Augustine

Can anybody help me with a REASONABLE priced hotel in the heart of Old Town St. Augustine? If the hotel has a jacuzzi that would be a plus. And any must do's would be great too. We are going in August.
Thanks for your help!

I hate to ask the obvious but what do you consider reasonable? The Casa Monica Hotel is quite lovely. I don't know exactly your dates in August but I plugged some dates in and got rates at $139 a night up to over $400 depending on the room. Check their website www.casamonica.com. Have fun, it is a great city.

When we came down here last summer to house hunt, we thought we would stay in St Augustine also. There are no reasonable hotels in town, with of without a jacuzzi. We found that nowhere in the vacinity of the beaches had rooms that were not in the $300 range.
Casa Monica is gorgeous. And expensive. Maybe they are having specials.
Good luck!

How are you getting there? If you have a car then you might want to stay a short drive away. For good seafood be sure to try O'Steen's. It is one of our family's favorite places. They live at Jacksonville Beach & drive down to eat there.

We stayed in the Bayfront Inn, a drive-up courtyard style motel with a pool in the middle, located across from the bay just on the edge of Old Towne. Room was spotless but small, and the continental bfst didn't amount to much at all. But its right there, very close to everything, and a very easy walk everywhere including to the old fort.

We too, had a tough time finding something reasonable and while i don't recall the rate (it was a one night stay on the way home from disney) i'm sure it must have been the 'most' reasonable in town at the time. (april '03).

Be sure to check out the Jesterville Grille and St. Augustine Toy Company right on the square area. Its very cute, similar to the old fashioned dime stores with an old fashioned soda-fountain counter. Stop in for dessert and try their an awesome 'Oatmeal Pie'. It's not at all what you'd expect but so good that i BEGGED them for a copy of the recipe!

It isn't in the heart of the old town, but we stayed at the Anastasia Inn. It's only a five minute drive and is just over the bridge. It was the best price we could find. And I think we paid $59. It's a family run motel and was real fancy, but clean and quiet. No jacuzzi though, ( not at that price!). But we'd certainly stay there again.
The Address is 218 Anastasia Blvd. and phone 1 888 226 6181.

Thanks for your replys. I checked the Casa Monica and would love to stay there, but not at that price.

There are 6 of us going over there on motorcycles. We'll have to check on those as well.

They were building a brand new Hilton Garden Inn right in the historic district when we were there in Feb. It is probably finished now, you might try there web site.

yeah,Anastasia Inn is a nice family run place. Had family stay there 2000, when I lived in St. Aug, its only 5-10 walk across bridge to square. check out the website, Anastasiainn.com i think. Visit the St. Aug lighthouse on Anatasia Island (mile down from the Inn), go tour the old fort, also ride your bikes down to Mission of Nombre de Dios about a half mile north of the fort on san marco between ocean ave and pine, look for the big cross. I always tell people to go there and also a great place to start your tour of St Aug., plenty of parking and also perfect for a picnic on the beautiful grounds. They do accept donations at boxes located on the grounds to help with the grounds upkeep.

hope you have a great time, are you coming far on your bikes?
