I'm answering this move it back up because it's a question I'd like answered. So far, we are about 3 out of 3 for only so-so Kona accomodations without going for broke on the Kahala Coast. After looking around last time I swore that just going to a hotel might be easier and better located. Look forward to some better-experienced input here.

We stayed at the Kanaloa at Kona last year when we were there. We were very pleased with the condo. The property is actually in Keahou not Kona, but it is only a few miles out of Kona. We rented through Bali Hai Treasures. They have a web site but I dont have it handy. If you cant find it through a search engine just email me and I will try to look through my info for it. The phone # is
800 688-2254. I think we paid $125 a night for a 1br oceanfront unit for the second week of march last year. I felt like it was a great deal after searching for quite a while.
If i can help you further just let me know.

I'm going the 2nd week in April to the Sea Village Resort condos. They looked pretty good on their website (http://www.infohouse.com/amelia/svillage.htm) and my travel agent got me a good deal. But, I'd be interested in hearing if anyone knows anything about the place. Thanks.

My husband & I stayed at the Kona Surf Resort (1-800-367-8011) last Sept. We had an ocean view that was beautiful. There is a saltwater oceanside pool & I thought the grounds were well-kept. It's not located on a swimming beach-many lava rocks, but the surf is fun to watch. This is a more budget-oriented hotel so if you want many amenities this may not be the place for you. It is not far south of Kahalu'u Beach at Keauhou Bay.
