Oahu bus & parking question
We will be staying in the Ko Olina area, but we also want to make trips into the city and Waikiki. We will have a car, but is it possible to park somewhere & then catch the bus? I've looked at the bus website, but since I'm not familar with the names of towns it makes it a little difficult to understand.
If the bus does not make sense for the four of us, do you have any parking suggestions?
My husband & I spent a day visiting Pearl Harbor, Waikiki & Diamond Head about 14 years ago. I don't think we had any problems with parking, but since we are now traveling with our children, I'm trying to plan ahead.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Good idea, skippy! also if you don't mind paying a little for parking in Waikiki, Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center and the Waikiki Beachwalk will validate your parking with a purchase. For Diamond Head, though, you should just drive.

You can park at the Honolulu Zoo parking lot for $.25/hour, 4 hours max on the meter. Easy stroll to center of Waikiki from there. Or to Waikiki Aquarium.
Parking is free at USS Arizona Memorial.
Many restaurants in Waikiki have free or inexpensive validated parking. Many of them have ads in newspapers. Friday & Sunday Honolulu Advertiser & MidWeek.
Same for Aloha Tower parking lot just past Falls of Clyde.
Same for some of the Chinatown parking lots.
This article is a couple years old, but has some good ideas for parking:

you’re in the town of kapolei. i stay at the ihilani marriott (also ko olina), drive my rented car (most likely borrowed) a couple miles to the county buildings off kamokila blvd, (transit center). there’s parking on the side streets where dmv is. from there i take the bus to ala moana/waikiki bus. ala moana is central for changing buses. not for me, i stop there, shop there, if i need to go anywhere else in honolulu, i take a cab then back at alamoana for the makaha bus back to kapolei, maybe stop at pearlridge.
clear as mud?
good luck
