Why in the world are you changing hotels IN New Orleans, Gail? Seems like extra hassle to me. I'd stay at the Fairmont, Maison Dupuy OR Monteleone the entire time if possible. The French Quarter is a great neighborhood to explore...save your time for shopping and eating rather than packing and moving!

Nottoway is about 60 miles north of New Orleans, so allot 1-1.5 hours.

Please do not spend your first 6 nights in 3 different New Orleans hotels! Would you do so if visiting, say, New York or San Francisco? You will lose precious time checking-out and checking-in, packing and repacking and transferring. No logical reason to put yourself on a "hotel treadmill"!

And don't expect to be able to check into the next one at the same time you have to check out of the current one. You'll be looking at 2-3 hours without a room.

I'll add to the chorus. You're risking the ruination of your vacation if you try to keep changing hotels. Pick one, and stick with it!

Gail go for it gal. Take your vacation as an adventure . Explore new hotels new conections with different styles and people. Traveling is just that ,on the move be it across town or across the contry. Enjoy your stay in New Orleans.
