We were in NYC just after Christmas with our 16-year-old son and saw Blue Man Group, and we were all rather disappointed. It certainly wasn't bad, just not as good as we expected. We all enjoyed Stomp much more (saw it a year ago). My son liked the Blue Man teeshirt he bought, though.
The other play we saw this time was "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)". Your teens have undoubtedly gotten a dose of Shakespeare in school by now, and this 3-man comedy would be perfect for them. My son and the other teens in the audience seemed to enjoy it a lot.
Of course, you should also get creative in your food selection... something you wouldn't find back home. We had Korean barbeque (the grill in the middle of the table) in the "Koreatown" area near the Empire State Building and it was a big hit.
You might check out the comedy clubs. Some (but not all) allow people under-21.
Plan on hanging out at Times Square for a couple hours after dark. Street musicians, artists, the lights...
