Thanks to all of you for helping me lan my food experiences during my trip last week to NYC.Im not a greatt writer, nor a qualified "foodie", but thought Id share my experiences.
Jubilee----got there early pre-show--they had an excellent prix fixe deal--we sat in open window table, i had an incredible chicken liver , and mussles, with an apple tart..Both were really outstanding.Wife had a cold soup with chicken breast that she loved.Including tip and glass of wine it was $40/head.Very nice exprerience
Delta Grill--a New Orleans/blues music place.Ambience and service was excellent, felt like NO to me.Had the blackened grouper, a little over done for me. Bread pudding was great.Other had shrimp and some chicken dishs that they really liked.Again it was $40/head.
Morrells wine bar and Cafe--this is an outstanding place Went there after Mass at St Pats--small place, but menu choices were out standing. I had a pulled pork set of 6 canapes, made onto a formed polenta--it was "U" shaped with thepork in the middle and a very light sauce--and they have an incredible wine list by the glass I had an 07 Laticha,my friend an 07 Cantera that were great, really.Service was very good, they have outside tables but it was over 90 so we ate inside. The place was so good we went back the next day for lunch again, and the menu was 50% different.I had a lobster/crab :cupcake" type deal, with pomergtanite under it--very nice
Had lunch at SouthwestNY on Sat.Its hard to find but worth it.It behind the Two World Financial Center building, right next to the Hudson, beneath a bunch of Cypress trees.I had a lobster club sandwich, that was very well executed. The views were great, service prompt, and my sandwich was $17--if you want a casual spot to just relax this is it
Of course we had to go to Katz's deli, which IMHO has the best pastrami sandwich--of course being Bronx raised,i also had an egg creme as well--terrific
Finally, one of our group is a celiac--when to Risoterria in the Village--they are totally glutn free--of course they have regular foods as well.I had a roast lamb panini, and my celiac friend had the first panini hes been able to eat in 15years, ad a beer as well. The wives had an incredible risotto.I also had a gluten free cremme brulee that youd neve know was gluten free
We had breakfast every day at Ess's bagels, 2 bagels, 2 coffees, $6 total--how can you beat that
