NYC TRIP REPORT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear All!!
What wonderful days!!!! We had a really great time!!!
The hotel (Sofitel New York) was really well located, almost half way between the Theatres and 5th av shops. We went walking everywhere!!!!!
We were very lucky with the weather! Although cold, no rain or snow…I can’t remember which day we did each thing, so I’ll just tell you all what we have done!!!

- One day we rented a car (with GPS of course!!) and went to do some shopping to Woodwory Common (I don’t remember how you spell it..) we really liked it!!
- We had lunch at the restaurant inside Barneys. Wow! Really “beautiful people”!
- We had dinner at Le colonial. Asian style, good food and service. The decoration is nice
- Dinner at 21 Club. GREAT food, GREAT service, but the tables really close and very expensive. The Burger with their special sauce was very good!
- We saw Tarzan and Hairspray and liked them both!!!
- Went to have a drink at “The view” and were glad we hadn’t had dinner there, a drink was enough…
- We shopped at 5th avenue area, Soho (we walked there from our hotel…)…everywhere!!
- Also Bought a lot of Christmas decorations, went to some markets on the street…
- Walked through Central Park
- Went to central station (4th time in nyc and had never seen it...)
- Went to mass at St Patrick’s
- All the Rockefeller area…finally didn’t skate!

A week seemed like life, but once we were there it went by too quickly…
THANK YOU all for your help preparing this trip….I’m already dreaming about next year’s…Any questions will be wellcome!!
Have a really good Christmas and a Great 2007!!!!!

Sounds very nice, lots of different things. How was Woodbury Commons? Was it worth gettting a car and driving out there? I've been a bit intrigued about the idea of going there as a side trip from the city since learning there is a Celine outlet there. The clothing stores seem upscale for an outlet center.

If you don't mind sharing this, how was your rate at Sofitel (and what type of room was it), how was your room, and how was the service?

Did you get discounted tickets for the two shows, or was that not possible due to time of year? I guess maybe there are not discounts for Tarzan.

First caveat, I don't consider myself a big shopper. Woodbury Commons for me is very hit or miss. There are some standards where I can usually find things - like Barney's. There have been some times however when I've walked away with nothing. I will say that when my shopping crazy family from WV comes up they ALWAYS want to go to Woodbury. It's always fun at least to look.

I go up to Woodbury about twice a year, and I usually come back with a lot. You have to be very intrepid, and spend the whole day there, but you will find some treasures. The Barney's Outlet and Off Saks are usually good bets for me. They also have more normal outlets (J Crew, Brooks Brothers, Polo) that are a safe bet for basics. You definitely go there with an open-mind, and if you're looking for something in particular, you're bound to be let down.
