Leaving for NYC this weekend. I already have theatre tickets and dinner reservations for Saturday night. I was just looking to spend the rest of my time walking around the neighborhoods and parks, people watching, and taking in NYC life. Any favorite spots? I'll do a search on this forum as well, but if anyone has any recommendations for good pizza by the slice, I'd love to here it.

Oh - I'm staying in the theatre district.

Third Avenue Street Fair is this weekend. It is one of the better ones. Not sure of the exact streets, but it goes from the 80's down to the 60's on Third Ave. John's on Bleeker has terrific pizza. I'd also rent a bike or bring roller blades if you have them and do the 'loop' in Central Park. It was great this weekend, and not crowded at all.

Sorry, street fair is on Sunday.

John's Pizza on Bleecker Street doesn't serve slices; only whole pies. For a decent slice, I like Stromboli's on 13th Street and University Place in the Village. DiFara's in Brooklyn makes terrific pizza but I don't suppose you feel going going out to Midwood.

Check out Citysearchny.com as they do surveys of this sort - best pizza, burger...Chowhound.com is also great and you'll get real recommendations from people who love food.

That place is down the block from me. Wasn't thrilled with it. The crust was underdone. I'd stick with Patsy's (there are several around the city) or John's. Neither of them sell by the slice, but the pizza is terrific. You could always give the leftovers (if there are any) to a homeless person.

Try Wagner Park. It is along the Hudson River in lower manhattan. It is wonderful. It is near the World trade Center. It is near battery park in lower NYC.
