Which tour would be most appropriate to first time visitors to the museum (it would be my husband and I on the tour)?

I don't think it matters. I think the different tours just give you a picture of what it was like for different segments of society at that time. Maybe someone who has taken more than one of the tours will think differently.

I think they are all appropriate. You just pick one that interests you. Although I did the confino tour w/my teen daughter as I thought she'd enjoy it, I really enjoyed it also.

I have taken the Getting By tour. It is about an hour long. My guide was terrible, however. I really, really hated him.

We took the Getting By tour a couple of weeks ago. Our guide was fine, but I can see how that would make a difference.

Each tour focuses on one or two families. I found the information and pictures on the website to be pretty comprehensive--drill down below the main page that just has the summary paragraphs about each. I'd just read through that information and pick the one that interests you most.
