"NYC romantic restaurant for birthday celebration".

Im goint to NYC with my boyfriend (his first time there) to celebrate his 24th b-day. I wanna take him to a nice (not too expensive <$100), romantic, cool restaurant or bar/lounge. Any suggestions? (we're staying near Times Square.)Has anyone heard of a place called "Sugar"?

http://www.sugarnyc.com/ I found this on menu pages. Maybe it is the ones you are talking about. You can check it out on their website.

Under $100 per person, or for both? If for both, I fear you won't find what you're looking for.

If your budget is in the $200 range, then you have some options.

First, get out of Times Square. Nothing is remotely cool about that area.

What type of food does the b-day boy prefer? Tell me that and I can most likely make several appropriate suggestions.

I meant $100 total... I was thinking more like a bar/lounge kinda place, not too fancy, but cool and romantic. We're probably gonna go for drinks and appetizers. And it doenst have to be close to Times Square, as long as we can take a cab or the subway we'll be fine

Dominic's food is fantastic. He used to be the Chef of Mojo in the East Village.

Well - you could go to the bar on the top of the Ritz Carlton in Battery Park City - incredible views of NYC and the harbor - esp around sunset into evening. $100 should cover a couple of drinks and munchies.

Take a look at this article in the Washington Post:

Also the Ava Lounge on top of the Dream Hotel has an amazing view. Take a look at the "Frolicking" section of the hotel web site for pictures.

Hmm...I would try Stanton Social. It's a tapas restaurant with a very cool lounge scene. Check out www.menupages.com for more ideas. You can search in your price range and by neighborhood.
