We're trying to decide between a Sunday Jazz brunch at the Blue Note or the Iridium...just in NYC overnight on a Sunday and want to catch some jazz and we have to eat too, right? Is one better/any other options?

If it's the food that you're after, pick either. Personally, I'd be checking out which act to catch. What are your choices for music at each spot?

Iridium is located near Central Park which may provide you with an opportunity for a nice stroll - weather permitting. Also this is the venue where Les Paul(89 and still going strong) plays every Monday night. Food is okay - Tandoori is right - who's playing?

At Iridium: The Bob Dorough Trio

I'm not familiar with either so-I guess I'm looking for decent food (that's not the reason we're going but if we go we would like ok food)...i guess i was looking for overall "atmosphere" -I'm sort of leaning towards the Blue Note becuase it is so "famous" and it gets us down to Greenwich village-we are planning to be near Central park on Monday...

I think I'd go with the Bob Dorough Trio. Based on what I read online, this would be a good group for you if you're "not familiar with jazz" as you say. I think it sounds like an entertaining show and these are old-timers who, frankly, might not be around long. In fact, I wish I were going, it sounds fabulous. AND...the food is getting a thumbs up in the following review:

The Oak Room at the Algonquin does a Sunday brunch (more a cabaret). Very nice room, I don't know about the food.

There's a jazz brunch at Seven Bar & Grill at 7th ave. b/w 28-29 st I've never been.
