Agree it would be helpful to know who's going on this trip and what your plans are. Novotel is in Times Square and a good option if you're planning to do a lot of theater and don't mind being in tourist land. Affinia Dumont and Embassy Suites are all suite hotels, good for a family group. But Embassy Suites is all the way downtown in the financial district so convenient to downtown but not midtown.

Sorry, family of four. I didn't want to give to much info, I was thinking about safety. I initially had written how many, ages, when... then I thought "This is an ad for trouble." I am weird that way, I need info but afraid to give too much info if you know what I mean. Thanks for your help.

Novotel is not a suite hotel - the others are. It looks like many of the rooms at the Novotel are King - so you would have to make sure they guarantee a room with two double beds for you - unless of course, you were thinking of 2 rooms or a 2-bedroom suit.
I would go for the Affinia Dumont - or one of their other suite hotels.

crosscourt, totally understand your concern. I was the same when first starting posting here. Not to worry. Don't think the Novotel is the best option for a family of 4. Other hotels in the Times Square area that could be are the Blakely (they have some suites), the Doubletree Guest Suites Times Square, the new Residence Inn. The Affinia Manhattan is also closer to Times Square than the Dumont (although I prefer the Dumont location, not all tourists would agree). The Embassy Suites is just not terribly convenient to a lot of midtown sightseeing.
